I’m looking for a good downhill mountain biking area but i have no idea where to look because I live in a middle of no where town! i live by Sacramento/Manteca in California. any ideas?
Well, the link, below, has a directory to Mountain Bike shops and trails in the Sacramento area, and one thing you also could try is to ask around at the local bike shops if they have any organized rides you could join, or if they could at least tell you where the best places are.
Also check out Meetup.com, I’ll bet there’s a Mountain Biking Meetup Group in your area.
Good luck!… ☺

Didn’t really know how to work the question, but I’m trying to ask what the equivalent of a mountain bike mile to a road mile is! Thanks!
I do not understand some of the answers here. I do not know the exact answer but Mountain Biking is more taxing than road biking.
Terrain not a difference?
loose sand mud and other variables make for more resistance and therefore a greater workload vs pavement for the same miles.
Equipment
Road bikes are lighter and there design is such that they climb better, descend faster, and are more aerodynamic in position to allow faster
riding. Not to mention the tire friction on the surface and tire pressure.
I would challenge anyone to go flat out for twenty miles on their road bike and then twenty miles on their mountain bike on the same road and the same course and compare the times.
road bike will win every time.
If you agree on the above conclusion then you would by logical deduction have to conclude that you work harder for the same mile on a mountain bike than on a road bike.
add terrain differences and it adds more resistance and workload.
because bikes can vary and conditions can vary it is hard to give a solid answer however I am wiling to say at least 20 percent more work on a mountain bike in the dirt vs road bike on the street. your mileage might vary
My kids love biking around
biking along the trail
