Necessary equipment for the casual bike rider consists of a helmet, and a headlight if there’s a chance of biking at night, and that’s about it. Anything else is gravy.

The same can not be said for the mountain biker. To have a safe and enjoyable ride, the mountain biker needs quite a bit of gear.

Even more so than for the casual biker, a helmet is a must. And take care about choosing a helmet. A poor-fitting helmet is of no use, so make sure it fits your head securely.

A good pair of gloves serve two purposes. You’ll get a better grip on the handlebars with your gloves, and of course should you take a spill your hands won’t get torn up.

Clothing
What to wear? Most people go mountain biking in the summer, so they wear shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. If they’re the hardy sort, they’ll put on sweatshirts and pants for the colder months.

But it’s also a good idea to wear padding on knees and elbows. The thing about mountain biking is that it’s not a question of if you’ll fall, but when. So it’s only common sense to wear padding and prevent a serious injury. If you’re a dedicated rider you don’t want to have to spend any time off the bike recuperating from a broken arm when with a little common sense you could avoid the problem.

Shoes
Don’t forget the shoes! These days shoes are designed especially for every sport under the sun, and Mountain Biking is no different. As a mountain biker you want to make sure your feet stay on the pedals, and you want shoes that are comfortable to well as well.

Accessories
A new trend in mountain biking is riding at night. Well, if you’re going to ride at night you’ve got to have a light! If you’re going for long distances you’ll want to have a hydropack of some kind, so that you can drink liquids on the go.

It’s possible to scour the web for your clothes and accessories, but to be sure of a good fit, it’s always best to give as much business as possible to your local bike store.

The Bike
You’ve got the gear, now you need the bike.

And these are not your granddaddy’s bikes. Technology has improved the design of bicycles in every way, and quality bikes are offered at affordable prices – but you’ve still got to pick the right one for you.

The best thing to do when choosing a bike is talk to owners of various types of bikes – maybe even borrow a ride on them, so you can compare the differences in saddle feel, shock absorbers, handling, and most importantly, weight. Don’t just talk to one person, get a good cross-section of opinions.

If you’re going to be a competitive mountain biker – taking parts in races – you’ll need a more expensive kind of bike, of course, one with a titanium frame and all the bells and whistles. If you’re just going to be going out to the trails on the weekends in your version of kicking back and relaxing, you won’t need that much bang for your buck

There are two main types of mountain bikes: the Hardtail, which has a frame with no rear suspension and the Softtail, which has a frame with a small amount of rear suspension. The most comfortable bike is perhaps one with full or “dual” suspension – a front suspension fork and a rear shock.

The type of bike you get also depends on the kind of riding you’ll want to do: cross-country, enduro, free ride, downhill, etc. Again, you’ll want to talk to fellow riders to see which is the best kind of bike for the particular kind of riding you want to do.

You can hound turkeys in the spiral and in the accident. You always must a document if you are untaken to track turkeys. The jump and tumble permit, however, are different. The skip licensed allows you to quest in an explicit vicinity during one of the 5-day washout hunting periods. In the decrease, your tolerate will allow you to hound any day during the time, while it is within the zone expected the permit. Once you have obtained your bomb hunting permit, there are several equipment you can do to have a successful outing. Be prime to exercise patience. Turkey hunting takes a lot of patience. Spring fiasco hunting involves excluding patience, as you make hen failure sounds to try to get a gobbler to come to you. Turkeys do not mate in the plunge, although, so you will have patiently to engage in stomach hunting. Stand hunting involves sentence a smidgen and then waiting at the failure to come to you. Since you will at some spit be hunting turkeys in the give, you must become everyday with the the strategy worn to make a bomb sound. There are two supreme types. One is called a friction call, which is bent by abrasion two surfaces together. The other is a mouth call.

This occurs when air is either inhaled or exhaled. A third manner of caller, a shaker, creates a “bolt” clatter when you shake it in a brisk activity. Regardless of which nature of call you will be with, you must rehearse the call diligently. You will also learn a lot by listening to the turkeys themselves. They are the best examples to pursue. Listen to live turkeys or a vocation tape. You can also get help by contacting an experienced fiasco seeker. Turkeys are skilled of making more than two dozen different calls. Most hunters, however, can only detect about 10. Their sounds involve the bark, the cluck, the drone, the crow, and the most regular sound of them all, the gulp. Make yourself intimate with each of these bomb calls. The most important thing you will do to guarantee a pleasurable failure hunting experience is to perform security. Turkey hunting, as with all forms of Hunting, poses a peril to those who do not use caution and wisdom in the tackle. Use gulp calls only when you are locating a tom. Do not use it to magnetize one. This will reason another seeker to think that you are a failure. You run the stake of being shot if this happens. Keep your hands and start camouflaged when you make washout calls.

There are other things you can do to ensure your wellbeing and the security of others. Never stalk a failure. Do not get closer than 100 yards to a gobbler. Choose a vocation site that allows you to see at slightest 40 yards in all directions. Do not move a revealed ensnare. Wear a ginger cap or gloves while walking, as your camouflaged clothing can be misguided for a turkey by other hunters. Most shooting accidents ensue because one hunter mistakes another hunter as game.

Finally, remember the three essential system of hunting:

1. Treat every gun as if it is loaded.

2.  Always show the suppress in a secure target, away from others.

3.  Be 100% solid of your target. Following the system and guidelines will allow you to have a successful turkey-hunting spell, be it pounce or plunge. As with all forms of hunting, shelter is always your highest priority. Keep this in intellect, and you are ready for the impending spice. Have as much fun as you can while practicing as much safety as you can.

If your sea fishing tackle gets broken because of constant wearing and tearing, you can repair it by yourself. It is simple and easy, and it can save you some money.

Just like anything else, sea fishing tackle can be worn down when you use it constantly, no matter how well you take care of it. So, when the guides on your fishing rod get detached or the tip breaks off, your choice is either to replace whichever part is broken or to buy a new rod. However, brand new sea fishing tackle can be a bit costly these days, so if your rod is not completely damaged, you should just replace what parts are broken and have it repaired.

Replacing a detached rod guide or repairing a rod tip is simple enough to do on your own. Thus, if you want to save some money on repairing your Fishing rod, just buy the materials that you need and do the repairing yourself.

How to Replace Rod Guides

To replace the rod guides on your sea fishing tackle, you would need to buy new rod guides from your local sporting shop. Make sure that the guides you get are the same size as the ones you would be replacing.

To get this done, you would need to remove all the old threads that had held the rod guides on your tackle. And then, attach the new guides by wrapping new rod thread around the foot of the guide and the rod itself. Afterwards, you dab upon it a healthy coating of epoxy glue. Even clear nail polish can work if you do not have epoxy glue available at home.

How to Replace Rod Tips

As it is with broken rod guides, it would be necessary for you to buy a new rod tip in order to replace the one that was broken off your sea fishing tackle. Again, you can get it from your local sporting shop; just be sure that your new rod tip will be able to fit the hole on your fishing rod.

Once you have your new rod tip, roughen its surface with sandpaper in order to make gluing it a lot easier. So you can be certain that your new tip will hold on your fishing rod, scrape away the old threads and old glue that held your old tip on your rod.

After you are done with working on the tip and the rod, get a stick of ferrule cement and melt it down. Swab the melted ferrule cement on both the tip and the rod and then glue the parts of your sea fishing tackle together. Be sure that these two parts are aligned correctly before the glue becomes dry.

If DIY Is Not Your Style

Replacing the broken parts of your sea fishing tackle is simple enough to do on your own. It is also a good way of saving a few dollars on the necessary repairs that you need to do to keep your fishing rod in good working order. However, if do-it-yourself is not your style, you can always take your sea fishing tackle to your local repair shop and shell out a few quid to get these repairs done.

I know i will not be able to go pro (i am good though), but i would like to do something with Skiing or snowboarding possibly as a job. Any ideas for jobs or carears one could do while making a decent amount of money?

Well, you wouldn’t make a decent amount of money, but there is always instructing. You could work up to be the head of a ski school — that gives you a semi decent salary.

You could get into coaching.

Or, try to get into admin for a ski slope. Depending on if you have money to invest/borrow, you could buy a resort and run it.

My dad is impossible to get gifts for, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to get him. He enjoys hiking and Mountain Biking, and travels to national parks frequently. Any ideas for a gift?
He also enjoys wine.

Dose he have?

Handheld GPS
Camel bag ( water back pack )
Walking stick ( or walking poles )
Gift card for new boots
Good day pack
A year pass for the National Parks

saddle bags for the bike
Small repair kit for bike

most of these thing will work for both sports.
Good luck

I have found in my life that Hunting is about the man who hunts, his style and abilities, not about his stuff,.What do you think?
All right, Sarah!
Hey, roadhunt, She’s just a kid. Give ‘r a break…

The answer is that it’s Yahoo!s fault. Since there is no category specifically for asking questions about firearms, all those questions come to the closest category they can find. Hunting.

I do see technique questions here, they’re just outnumbered 100 to 1 by mall ninjas flaunting their ignorance. Which, if you think about it, really does mirror life.

I was thinking about buying a boat. Are there any specific procedures and licenses that I need to go ocean fishing? Where would I launch the boat from and what is the average cost (bait, gas) to go fishing in southern California. I am not much of a fisherman so I am quite ignorant on this subject. Any answers appreciated.

I’m not from Cali and am not familiar w/ their specifics when it comes to licenses ect., but here in florida you need to have your boat registered, a current license for the type of fishing that you will be doing(saltwater),you may also need a boat operation license in cali. im not sure. you will also need all of your saftey equiptment ( personal flotation device, fire extenguisher ect.) As far as boat ramps go, I would try to locate a bait and tackle shop in the area you are wanting to fish, and ask them for ramp locations and fishing advice. As for cost of gas and bait, it all depends on what kind of Fishing you will be doing. You may need live bait or artificial, you may use 20 gallons of fuel per trip or you may use 2. I would also suggest finding a buddy boat to go out w/ a few times for safety and guidance.

Hello!

I live in California currently and the ski season has been over for a few months. This past year I’ve gained a large interest in freestyle Skiing and did quite a few rails, jumps, boxes, etc. the past season. Some of my more experienced friends and myself are planning on shooting a video this coming winter…

My question is:

What Can I Do To Prepare for Freestyle Skiing while it’s Summer?

From building rails in my backyard to buying ice and making a ramp, I’m game for all answers. Anything is appreciated, thanks!

hey dude try to aggressive in-line skate . if you don’t know what that is its when kids at the skate park roller blade . trust me it is the best way to prepare it works . Since you live in cali it should be easy to find a park. also you could add footage of you guys skating in the movie too

What are some good sites online to shop for Mountain Biking shoes? Both of the local bike stores near my house have an extremely limited selection of shoes (like three pair each). Performance and Nashbar seem to have a good selection, but never the right sizes. What I’m looking for is a shoe (SPD) that you can get off the bike and walk around easily. I’m not looking for the type of shoe that looks like a road shoe with a little tread. Any help would be appreciated.

Honestly, I would try a few more Local Bike Shops, even if you have to travel a bit. Shoes vary greatly in their geometry, and it’s relatively easy to end up with a pair that doesn’t fit well. At least try them on at the shop, and then if the price differential is huge, consider getting them online.
if you can’t find what you want online at Perf or Nashbar, try REI. Decent selection and they’re having a sale. They are also good to deal with.
